VIENNA -- Sentinel lymph nodes in patients with cutaneous melanoma are best identified using a combination of blue dye, lymphoscintigraphy, and gamma probe, Giorgio Landi, M.D., reported at the 10th World Congress on Cancers of the Skin.
The combination of these techniques has significantly improved the accuracy of sentinel lymph node mapping from the 82% success rate first reported in the landmark paper by Donald L. Morton, M.D., in 1992.
