HANNITY: As we continue on "Hannity & Colmes," I'm Sean Hannity.

Also coming up tonight, just when you think that gas prices cannot go any higher, crooks and con artists are hiking up prices illegally. So we'll tell you what you can do about it tonight.

But first, last week at a town hall meeting sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus, New York Democratic Congressman Charlie Rangel had this to say about President Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina. Quote, "George Bush is our Bull Connor."

Of course, Connor was the Birmingham, Alabama, police commissioner who in 1963 ordered the use of fire hoses and attack dogs against civil rights protesters. His name has become synonymous with racism.

And joining us now to discuss his comments, Congressman Charlie Rangel.

You know something? I've been looking at your comments. I don't know what's happened. You've changed. You made this comment. You know the president is nothing like this. You made -- you called Dick Cheney a sick man.

REP. CHARLIE RANGEL (D), NEW YORK: We all agree. He just came out of the hospital.

HANNITY: Very funny. Very cute.

RANGEL: What are you talking about?

HANNITY: Very cute.

RANGEL: He was sick when he went into office. He's more ill now than he's ever been, and he is the vice president. And he doesn't take Medicare.

HANNITY: OK. You just -- you used the statement about the Iraq war, just as bad as six million Jews being killed.

RANGEL: I did not say that.

HANNITY: You did not say that? "The Daily News" says that, July 19, 2005.

RANGEL: I don't care what they said. What I did say, which would be enough to upset you without making anything up.

HANNITY: Called Bill Clinton a redneck]

RANGEL: Hey, his wife calls...
