Sep. 28--The purchase of 529 new buses was announced yesterday by city and state officials to help the long-suffering riders of the city's franchise bus fleet.
Delivery of the new buses -- some costing as much as $550,000 each -- will begin next spring, according to the announcement by Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Pataki.
