Indexes Close At Session Highs
1Stocks started lower before reversing to rally the rest of the session. The Nasdaq surged 1.2%, led by software makers. The small-cap S&P 600 also gained 1.2%, closing above its 50-day average for the first time since Sept. 19. The Dow rose 0.8%, the S&P 500 0.9%. NYSE and Nasdaq volume ran higher.
