California wildfire continues brutal march
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- A raging southern California wildfire was reported still dangerously out of control Friday despite more favorable weather.
With more than 3,000 firefighters on the scene, residents were forced to flee as the fire bore down on more than a dozen communities in Ventura and Los Angeles counties, devouring more than 16,000 acres.
The blaze was halted Thursday just north of the 101 Freeway before it could spread toward Malibu and the Pacific Ocean, the Los Angeles Times said.
