MARIA BARTIROMO, CNBC ANCHOR: The impact of the hurricanes are expected to impact people`s ability to spend this holiday season. Joining us to talk about the impact on the PC business and technology in general is the CEO of Lenovo in his first interview since acquiring the PC assets of IBM. Steve Ward in a CNBC exclusive.

STEVE WARD, CEO, LENOVO: Thank you, nice to be here.
BARTIROMO: Welcome to the program. First, give me the impact from Katrina on your business. I know you have been aiding with regard to bringing technology to the region, correct? Tell me what you`ve been doing.
WARD: We -- it was so fortunate, we`ve been able to help and as a matter of fact, we were able to put PCs with many of our partners in all of the emergency centers so people could reach out to their families.
BARTIROMO: Give me your expectation of the impact of people`s ability to spend coming up this holiday season. We`ve had a lot of people on the air talking about the rising price of gasoline, rising price of crude oil and really, limiting their ability to spend. Are you expecting a slowdown?
WARD: Well, actually we`re not expecting a slowdown. I think it`s a little early to tell exactly what the limits may be but there`s always two sides to these. As it turns out in many cases, people are looking for even more mobility or more ability to work from home, more ability to work wherever they are. So there`s actually an opportunity for some spending to shift.
