FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Water and ice trucks reached the Palm Beach County fairgrounds on Monday. The National Guard had Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters ready in Brooksville, Jacksonville and Homestead Air Force Base. Teams of federal emergency medical responders, search-and-rescue workers and disaster planners arrived in the state early, with more ready on the sidelines.
