[*] PAULISON: Good afternoon, and thank you for being here.
In my history of working emergency management in the fire service, I have always depended on the media to get our word out. And I appreciate your being here. I just want to give you some idea of what we're doing with Hurricane Rita and how we're preparing for that. And I'll cross three areas -- Florida, Louisiana and Texas, where we think the hurricane is going to land.
Florida has already started evacuations, I'm sure you're aware. They have evacuated the Keys. They've done an outstanding job.
We've moved two disaster medical teams into Florida. We've also moved two urban search and rescue teams into Florida. We've moved a significant amount of commodities into Florida -- water, food and ice. And we'll give you copies of those later with the amounts of those.
I've been on the phone with the governor on a regular basis. He is very pleased with the job we've done.
Florida, like Texas, has an outstanding emergency management system, and they're easy to work with.
The president has already issued a declaration of emergency, pre- landfall, so we can make sure that they have the resources they need to get their residents out of harm's way and prepare the state for that.
