The majority of UK publishers are reportedly opposed to the takeover of Ottakar's by HMV, the owner of the chain of HMV music stores and the Waterstone's bookshops. The music chain trumped a rival bid made by the management team at Ottakar's, making it the favourite to take over the book chain with a bid of GBP4.40 per share.
