Sep. 9--Lauren Kucerak, who eats out five nights a week, had a special occasion ruined by a cockroach crawling across her table and then being further outraged by the restaurant's feeble attempt to make things right.
The restaurant seemed perfect: An elegant downtown destination filled with candles and flowers, where couples go for special occasions and are willing to pay as much as $140 for a romantic meal for two.
But things went wrong quickly for Lauren Kucerak, a fashion and entertainment publicist who was there one night with her then-boyfriend.
"A cockroach crawled down the wall and across my table," said Kucerak, a 32-year-old restaurant groupie who eats out five nights a week. "I felt disgusting and squeamish, I couldn't eat my dinner. It definitely ruined the mood."
