THE GREAT MEMOIR BEGAN 15 years ago at Riverfront Stadium, on that September Sunday when Tommy Lasorda beckoned a 21-year-old player, fresh from Albuquerque.
"First at-bat in the big leagues, 1990, Cincinnati," Dave Hansen recalled last spring. "Bases loaded. Two out. Rob Dibble on the mound. Harry Wendelstedt behind the plate. I struck out, 3-2. I fought-off a few, but Harry had enough of it. He rang the kid up.
"That was it."

Hansen's first major league hit came two weeks later, on the final day of the season, but it wasn't until the next year--July 12, 1991, off Dennis Martinez at Montreal's Olympic ...
