My father and I were at the game when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's career home run record. I was 15 years old then. Do you know what the attendance was that night?
Richard O. Timms
Columbia, S.C.
A crowd of 53,775 was on hand at Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta on April 8, 1974 when Aaron hit his 715th career home, breaking Ruth's record.
After walking in his first time at the plate, Aaron faced Dodger left-hander Al Downing in the fourth inning with two out and Darrell Evans on base.
With a 1-and-0 count on him, Aaron sent Downing's next pitch into the left-center field bullpen. The Braves won the game, 7-4.
From their first professional game to retirement, how many players have stayed with the same team?
