ON APRIL 6, 2005, WHILE PLAYING against the Philadelphia Phillies in the second game of the season, Brad Wilkerson of the Washington Nationals hit for the cycle, the 266th time in major league history that a player accomplished the feat.
Wilkerson's achievement was even more rare, however. He also became only the 21st player in major league history to hit for the cycle twice in his career. In fact, when Wilkerson completed his second cycle by hitting a ground-rule double against Aaron Fultz in the eighth inning of that game, he joined John Olerud as the only players since 1991 to hit for the cycle more than once.
