In June of 1964, the Cardinals got Lou Brock in a trade with the Cubs. Brock helped lead St. Louis to a National League pennant and a World Series victory over the Yankees.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Brock the last player to hit a home run into the center field seats in the Polo Grounds against the Giants while he was still a member of the Cubs?

No. Hank Aaron of the Milwaukee Braves was the last player to homer into the center field bleachers at the Polo Grounds. He hit his long home run, a grand slam, against Jay Hook of the Mets on June 18, 1962.
One day earlier, June 17, Brock slammed a 480-foot home run against AI Jackson into the center field bleachers at the Polo Grounds when he was in his second year with the Cubs.
Joe Adcock of the Milwaukee Braves was the only other player ever to homey into the center field bleachers at the Polo Grounds. He did it against the New York Giants in 1953.
