Aug. 31--Three weeks after she kicked off her campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, a new poll shows Republican U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris losing ground to the incumbent Democrat.
The findings underscore the uneasiness some prominent Republicans have expressed over a Harris candidacy that so far has been marked by a desperate search among Republicans in Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee to find an alternative.
The Quinnipiac University survey shows the freshman Democratic senator cruising to a second term with 57 percent of the vote in 2006, compared to just 33 percent for Harris. That compares to a...
