NEW ORLEANS -- Intrauterine growth restriction is associated with cerebral palsy in infants born at term, but not in those born preterm, Dr. Bo Jacobsson said at the annual meeting of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
In a population-based study of 334 singleton children with cerebral palsy (CP) and 668 controls matched for gender, gestational age at delivery, and type of delivery, the 218 babies with CP who were born at term had a substantially increased risk of IUGR, compared with controls (odds ratio 8.2).
