Aug. 31--Dallas-area drivers, already weary from the steady upward march of gas prices, seemed panicked Wednesday after learning that extensive damage caused by Hurricane Katrina would result in even more pain at the pump.
Several hurried to gas stations with the idea of filling up before the price spiked dramatically. A gallon of regular unleaded averaged $2.60 in Dallas on Tuesday.
