How to Get your Beauty Sleep

Sleep loss is associated not just with dark circles, but also with puffiness (because of reduced circulation) and even metabolism changes that can lead to weight gain. Here's how to get the quality sleep to feel and look your best. * Know your needs. While most studies suggest that seven hours a night is the absolute minimum we need to be properly rested, it does vary from person to person. Even if you're not tired all the time, you may be sleep-deprived. If you fall asleep the second your head hits the pillow, that's a more accurate gauge of sleep deprivation than how you feel when you open your eyes in the morning. There is something called "sleep inertia" that can make you feel awful, but that just means that you are waking from an especially deep stage of sleep. * Don't overstimulate yourself. Knock off the coffee by noon at the latest. The effects of caffeine can linger for more than a few hours. While a glass of wine before bed may make you sleepy, alcohol actually discourages restful sleep and makes you more likely to waken multiple times during the night. Have your ...
