Americans will survive this too. New Orleans may have ceased as a functioning city, Biloxi may have been flattened, Gulfport and Mobile incapacitated. But Yankee resiliency -- a term perfectly applicable to the old Confederacy -- will bring those beloved cities and their residents through, stronger than before.
