Aug. 29--Felipe Korzenny was into Hispanic marketing back when it wasn't hip, before it became profitable.
Now that it has caught on, he's taken the field a step further and is pioneering a program at Florida State University in Tallahassee to both train professionals in Hispanic marketing and to conduct research into multicultural marketing trends.
The fledgling Center for Hispanic Marketing Communications represents a convergence of the two paths in Korzenny's career: academia and business.
In 1984, the native of Mexico City founded a multicultural marketing firm, which later merged with Cheskin, a consulting and research company where he has remained as a senior consultant. He has also taught at Michigan State University and San Francisco State University.
