Aug. 29--CHICAGO -- Josh Beckett's beef was with the first-base umpire. Antonio Alfonseca's was with the one working the plate.
The two pitchers had their run-ins with the umps at Wrigley Field on Sunday, but it was the Chicago Cubs who caused them their greatest grief.
The Cubs dropped a 14-3 loss on the Marlins, who fell short in their bid to sweep an opponent for the first time in two months.
Derrek Lee, the former Marlin turned Most Valuable Player candidate, blasted his 38th and 39th home runs to break Ernie Banks' club record for first basemen.
The Cubs scored eight runs in the seventh, and the Marlins returned to South Florida having broken even on their six-game road trip.
