Aug. 28--SPORTS FAN BECOMES FORCE IN CORPORATE EVENT FIELD: Kaye Burkhardt gives herself some great executive perks. Each year, she attends the Super Bowl, Final Four and U.S. Open and Masters at her company's expense.
Ms. Burkhardt has parlayed $15,000 in Dallas Cowboys tickets bought 25 years ago into a $20 million corporate meetings, hospitality and incentives arrangement business.
One of her core strengths is helping Fortune 500 clients host grand fetes at sporting events across the globe.
So it's only fitting that the 65-year-old sports fan partakes in a little self-indulgence.
"I honestly can't remember ever watching a soap opera," says Ms. Burkhardt, president of Dallas Fan Fares Inc. "But I've watched hundreds of thousands of hours of ESPN."
She and her 65-person staff are neck-deep in the details of helping nearly a dozen corporations host up to 1,000 guests at Super Bowl XL on Feb. 5 in Detroit.
