Aug. 26--South Florida's building boom is remaking cities and shorelines, but the slew of construction sites dotting the region can pose problems when hurricanes come ashore.
Hurricane Katrina's rapid transformation into a South Florida threat may have caught some builders off guard, as some sites had unsecured debris, possibly posing a hazard to nearby buildings.
