RENOVATIONS
I let my summer plans dictate my dress code. Last year I spent the summer months at my farmhouse on Long Island in a very Katharine Hepburn mood. I wore fitted men's shirts from Marc Jacobs and Brooks Brothers, high-waisted vintage Levi's jeans, and Marni flats. This summer I am going to Patmos, Greece, and Sicily, and will pack Panama hats by Tracey Tooker, a Zac Posen billowy cotton blouse, a white Abaete bikini, and gold Capri sandals.
AROMATHERAPY I treat perfumes like jewels. I wear Royal Bain de Caron when I go out to a party because it sparkles like champagne. I wear Shiseido's Serge Lutens's Rahat Loukoum in the morning because it smells like a delicious almond pastry. And I wear Hermes Amazone when I am at the beach.
HUNTING GROUNDS In Paris: Christian Louboutin, Didier Ludot for vintage, Madeleine Gely for custom-made umbrellas; in Florence: Loretta Caponi for cotton and silk nightgowns (my favorite is a twenties flapper dress, which I have had made in lobster-red, aqua, and black lace); in London: Purdey's for hunting jackets.
