Swanning About I read "The Secrets of The Swan," writ-ten by Joan Kron, in your September issue and was stunned by former contestant Kelly Alemi's sense of entitlement. Alemi chose to take a gamble and accept surgical and cosmetic work, which were performed gratis. Does she realize what such procedures would have cost otherwise? Yet she seems to feel that the rest of her life should be on someone else's tab as well. Why should someone else pay for her wedding? She calls the results of her physical transformation "a fairy tale America helped me achieve." No, Ms. Alemi -- the only thing you've "achieved" is greed. Rita Milo Yonkers, NY

Not to worry about The Swan's en-croachment on the realm of beauty: Soon the participants' dark roots will grow out, and their hair extensions will be removed; hairstyles will return to a condition resembling the "before" photographs; surgical lifts will begin to sag, and tooth veneers will chip or need replacement; weight lost will be regained. Gradually, if not sooner, the coach will revert to a pumpkin once again. Beauty cannot be raffled off to a lucky winner. Its natural design and variation cannot be mimicked by needles and scalpels. I actually enjoyed watching The Swan. I feel that if plastic surgery is going to lift so-meone's confidence and attitude, then, by all means, she should do it. However, I don't like the fact that Kelly Alemi seems to be so money-hungry now that she looks good. Before the makeover, she didn't demonstrate any such behavior. Anonymous Via email

I've never read about a more vacant and selfish woman than Kelly Alemi. Despite receiving thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic surgery, she complains about being temporarily without a cell phone. And now Alemi thinks she deserves to have someone else foot the bill for her wedding. What did she achieve, other than winning an all-expenses-paid plastic-surgery vacation? Are we supposed to feel sorry for her because she's now "stuck looking for a real job?" It's called real life. Debbie Cohen Via email

May I suggest to Swan contestant Kelly Alemi one final surgery to remove her head from her ass? Soni Conville Secaucus, NJ
