FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Phil Mickelson's victory last week at the PGA Championship assures the silly season won't seem so silly this year.
With his victory at Baltusrol, Mickelson earned a spot in the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, Nov. 22-23 at Poipu Bay Golf Course in Kauai, Hawaii.
He'll meet Tiger Woods, Michael Campbell and Retief Goosen in the annual event reserved for the year's major championship winners. Because Woods won two of the majors, Goosen has been named to fill out the foursome after recording the best cumulative effort in majors, not counting the winners.
