FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ A few years ago, as cancer survivor Lance Armstrong took on another Tour de France, my father took on cancer. It was in his kidney, then his lungs. He took drugs. He tried chemo. One doctor said nothing could be done. Another doctor kept trying.

Somewhere during all this, my father read Armstrong's death-defying book, ``It's Not About the Bike.'' He's not a huge sports fan. But like millions of people, he was touched by Armstrong's fight. Like millions, he began following Armstrong and continued right through Tour de France win No. 7 this summer as a fellow cancer survivor.

And so, like millions on this side of the ocean, he doesn't want this latest...
