Cheat Sheet
1 Remove makeup, dirt, and oil with a cleanser suited to your skin type, rinsing thoroughly with at least ten splashes of lukewarm water. 2 Fill a large saucepan with water, and place four chamomile tea bags inside to calm redness and reduce bacteria. Bring the water to a boil. 3 Spread a gentle exfoliating mask over the face, avoiding the delicate skin around the eyes, and leave the mask in place for the next step. 4 Remove the boiling water from the heat. With a towel over your head, hold your face about a foot above the pot for two to three minutes. 5 Rinse the scrub thoroughly, and blot dry with a towel. 6 Immediately apply a thin layer of mask: clay for oily skin; a creamy one with honey, aloe, or arnica extract for dry and sensitive skin; or, for combination skin, a combination of the two (clay on the T-zone and a hydrating mask everywhere else). 7 Rinse off the mask, and before the skin is completely dry, spread a thin layer of moisturizer on the face. 8 Steer clear of makeup for the next six to eight hours. On reverse: Cotton camisole by La Cosa.

Toolbox
1 Chamomile contains antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities, making it especially good for dry and sensitive complexions. Tazo Calm tea bags (1) are also infused with blackberry leaves, a natural antioxidant, and rose petals, which contain astringent properties (tazo.com). 2 Hold hair off the face with a snag-resistant rubber band, like Goody Ouchless Elastics (2) or a cloth headband, like Sephora Collection Microfiber Headband by Aquis (3) (goody.com; sephora.com). 3 If your skin is dry or sensitive, try a milky cleanser that removes dirt without stripping away natural oils: Chanel Precision Cleansing Milk (4) nourishes with pro-vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid; Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (5) uses propylene glycol to bind moisture to the skin (chanel, gloss.com; cetaphil.com). 4 For oily complexions and those prone to breakouts, choose a face wash with salicylic acid to help exfoliate and unclog pores. Dr. Brandt Poreless Cleanser (6) also contains rosemary and tea tree oil to limit breakouts and calm the skin (drbrandtskincare.com). 5 On combination skin, a foaming gel cleanser works best to lift away excess grease without overdrying. Oil-free versions with exfoliators and light moisturizers, such as L'Oreal Ideal Balance Foaming Gel Cleanser (7), exfoliate and minimize shine (lorealparis.com).
