Makeup artists abandoned the traditional charcoal gray of smoky eyes for warmer, richer colors, like caramel, mahogany, and even copper. * For the mildest effect, makeup artists at Calvin Klein and Stella McCartney dipped their fluffy brushes in caramel or copper shadow and swirled them lightly in the creases of the models' eyes. "The best trick when you're doing smoky eyes is to start light, and build it up," said Dick Page at the Helmut Lang show.
