Lobell's tips on refreshing your look
Take a trial run "Resist the impulse buy. Get your makeup done at the store, then walk outside, and see how you like it a few hours later. Always ask for samples, and bring your most honest friend along -- the one who will say, 'No way!' if a color is all wrong for you." Pucker up "When you try a new lipstick in the store, apply it to your lips with a Q-tip -- don't test it on the back of your hand. Your natural lip color will change the shade, and you need to see that. If you love the color just the way it appears in the tube, apply a light foundation or concealer to your lips before you put it on." Get the basics "Makeup is like a wardrobe. You should always have a few core pieces -- a chic red lipstick, a natural gloss, an eye shadow you love. These are the most important products to buy, and they're worth spending money on. Then you can add new colors and textures when you want a change." Pick the right base "Heavy foundation looks bad on everyone. You should only use foundation where it's needed. Otherwise, skip it altogether, and try a tinted moisturizer instead -- it looks more natural. As seasons change, adapt the color and formula -- oil-control in summer, extra- moisturizing in winter."

The most I'll put on if I'm going out at night is a little lip gloss and mascara." Einstein ...
