Reboxetine May Prove Effective Among Methylphenidate-Resistant
A small open-label study has indicated that a once-daily dose of the medication reboxetine may reduce symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents for whom the drug methylphenidate has not worked. The study looked at 31 Israeli children ages 8 to 18, all of whom had failed on a previous trial of methylphenidate or had experienced adverse effects that resulted in discontinuation of the medication. Subjects received 4 mg of reboxetine each morning, and were maintained on this dose for a six-week study period. Results showed a significant decrease in a variety of ADHD symptoms as measured by several scales.
