ike a padded bra, new shampoos and conditioners promise to boost curly hair's natural assets. Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls and ThermaSilk Smooth and Silky formulas contain silicone to tame frizz, plus plant resins to increase spring and shine in hair that's tightly kinked or loosely waved. Cosmetics chemist Jim Hammer says the reasoning is sound. "The smoother and bouncier you make your curls -- which tend to puff up and snarl far more than straight hair -- the more defined they'll look," he says. In other words, these solutions lift and separate. Bottom Line: The formulas gave our usually messy waves a controlled, silky shape that looked perky (and resisted frizz) for hours.
