Cheat Sheet
1 If lines are a problem, smooth a hydrating eye cream beneath the lashes, and tap lightly until it disappears. Repeat on the upper lids and at the outer corners. Because depuffing gels can prevent makeup from adhering to the skin, apply them after concealer. 2 Allow several minutes for moisture to sink into the skin before dabbing the area with a yellow-tone concealer. For wand formulas, scrape the sponge tip against the tube's rim to remove excess, then place several small dots below each eye and blend. Repeat if necessary. 3 To set concealer, brush a fine layer of loose translucent powder on top. Skip the powder if you're using a depuffing gel, and apply the gel over concealer now. 4 Eliminate remaining blotchiness on the upper eyelids with a coat of concealer (be sure to reach the inner corners, where shadows are darkest). 5 Rub highlighter on the brow bones and at the inner corners of the eyes, and rim the bottom lids with a pearly or opaque white or beige eye pencil. 6 Use an eyelash curler to squeeze the lashes gently three times. Then brush on two coats of black mascara.

Toolbox
* The delicate tissue around the eyes contains fewer oil glands, making it prone to dryness. Clinique Moisture Surge Eye Gel (1) hydrates with hyaluronic acid -- and leaves no greasy residue behind (clinique.com). * To shrink undereye bags, try a depuffing gel with caffeine: Origins No Puffery (2) also contains soothing plant oils to banish redness (origins.com). * To stimulate the production of skin-plumping collagen and elastin, try an anti-aging cream with copper or pentapeptides, such as Olay Regenerist Continuous Night Recovery eye cream (3) (regenerist.com). * A concealer brush, such as the one by Trish McEvoy (4), blends pigment easily (nordstrom.com). * Curling lashes before applying mascara makes them look more abundant. Kevyn Aucoin The Eyelash Curler (5) produces a soft, smooth arc (kevynaucoin.com). * Dry eyes lead to redness. Squeeze a few drops of a rewetting formula, such as Visine Tears Lubricant Eye Drops (6), to prevent irritation (visine.com). * Look for black tea (7) when creating a compress; the caffeine depuffs, and tannin relieves inflammation. * A presoaked mask delivers concentrated ingredients: Shiseido Benefiance Treatment Eye Mask (8) lightens circles with retinol, vitamin C, and ginseng (shiseido.com).
