Slick Hair Not since the days of James Dean has slicked-back hair looked so effortlessly cool. At the Costume National show, hairstylist Luigi Murenu side-parted the models' hair before combing it up and off their faces so it looked sleek but not plastered down on top. For Carolina Herrera's runway, hairstylist Orlando Pita achieved a rough finish by finger-raking a dime-size amount of pomade straight back through the crown. He then curled the hair from the ears down to create loose waves, securing them with a few bobby pins tucked under the top layer of hair. "It's put-together but not too perfect," Pita says. Sounds like a cause we could get behind. Bottom Line: By retaining some natural texture, slicked-back styles look sultry, not at all uptight.
