DAVIE, Fla. _ Ricky Williams apologized Monday for the impact his retirement had on the Miami Dolphins just before the start of the 2004 preseason.

In turn, the franchise hopes it won't be sorry for forgiving Williams and bringing him back into the fold.

What once seemed impossible happened Monday when Williams took the field for the Dolphins on the first day of training camp at team headquarters in Davie.

At 213 pounds with a scruffy beard and short dreadlocks, Williams looked physically different than before he began a yearlong hiatus from football that included lengthy trips to Australia and India as well as the studying of yoga and holistic medicine.
