DAVIE, Fla. _ Tight end Randy McMichael is on the field practicing with the Dolphins, but his status for the season remains uncertain.

McMichael was arrested last month in Grovetown, Ga., and charged with simple battery and criminal trespass for his role in an alleged altercation with his wife, Cawanna.

Capt. Steve Morris of the Columbia (Ga.) County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday that his department is "pursuing this case and expects it to come to trial or court within the next two months."

The case has been forwarded to the district attorney's office in Augusta, where a court date is expected to be set next week.
