MIAMI _ They hit into four inning-ending double plays, with speedy Juan Pierre and Luis Castillo responsible for two of them.

They tied a dubious club record by getting 12 hits, yet none for extra bases.

They watched painfully as Daryle Ward won a 10-pitch at-bat against Marlins starter Brian Moehler in the fifth inning, eventually launching a high changeup off the wall for a two-run go-ahead and game-winning double.

In the losing clubhouse, the Marlins again were left trying to pinpoint their problems against the Pirates, who have now beaten them eight of the past nine times after Tuesday night's 6-3...
