STOWE, VT. -- Infliximab infusions can induce a prompt response in some patients with refractory pyoderma gangrenosum, according to Dr. Peter W. Heald.
The steroid-sparing treatment option for the ulcerative cutaneous condition is one of several "new twists in medical dermatology" that the Yale University physician discussed in a presentation at a dermatology conference sponsored by the University of Vermont.
Using examples from his own practice, Dr. Heald presented "a stamp collection" of treatment advances, drug updates, and information for managing skin diseases that are becoming more prevalent.
