Adobe Systems Inc. (San Jose, CA) has entered into an agreement to acquire Macromedia, developer of such popular web-publishing software solutions as Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, FreeHand, Director, and ColdFusion.
The all-stock transaction, in which Macromedia shareholders will receive 0.69 shares of Adobe common stock for each share of Macromedia common stock, is valued at roughly $3.4 billion.
