I WAS CALLED UP FROM AA AND played my first big league game on September 12, 1986. The A's were playing the Indians in Cleveland, and I replaced Mickey Tettleton at catcher.

It was the seventh inning when I got my first at-bat. How could I forget hitting that home run off Greg Swindell? I think I was the 53rd player to hit a homer in his first major league at-bat.

(Steinbach was the 60th player to homer in his first big league at-bat).

When you're playing your first game, you're just hoping not to embarrass yourself. Those kinds of things are running through your mind.
