The National Swimming Pool Foundation will award $500,000 in grants this year--44 percent more than last year.
NSPF attributed the increase to the success of its updated Certified Pool-Spa Operator Handbook and the new Certified Pool Inspector Program, said Tom Lachocki, CEO of NSPF in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The foundation is looking for grant applications in two general research categories: protecting people who are going into the water and encouraging more people to get into the water, Lachocki said.
