Sybase SQL Server for Windows NT is a SQL relational database that delivers enterprise-class features on a PC platform. In the intervening years since its split from Microsoft, Sybase has crafted a strategy for differentiating its flagship database to emphasize its strengths in performance and portability. Sybase's SQL Server strategy boils down to this: mixed workload, mixed platforms. That is, the product can be tuned to a variety of needs (i.e., decision support or OLTP), and scales up to UNIX flavors of SQL Server, or all the way down to its small-footprint cousin SQL Anywhere. With this Windows NT version of the product, Sybase adds affordability and easier administration to create an enterprise-caliber DBMS for the Wintel platform.
