Maine Ataxia Support Group
Map # 18 by June West
The Maine Ataxia Support group just had there second get together this past April, at Mercy Hospital. The meeting had both return members from the January meeting, plus a few new faces. The meeting had a true down east feel about it, with people contributing food and ideas. The highlight of the afternoon came in the form of guest speakers on the topics of public handicap accessibility and consumer products for the handicap.
With the warm weather almost here, the Maine Ataxia Support Group has wisely decided to hold it's next meeting in the beautiful outdoors of Maine. Winslow Park on the coast of Freeport will make the perfect setting for everyone to meet plus enjoy the scenic view of Casco Bay. Of course, any new members will be most welcome, plus their friends and relatives.
Please call June West if you are interested in attending the Maine Ataxia Support Group meeting. 207-865-4969.
North Texas Ataxia Support Group
Map #1 by Mary Higbie
Our support group has had a couple of great meetings this spring. Anita Hickey, moves about Irving, Texas, on her scooter style wheelchair in her active life. She provided great insight in "meeting life's challenges." First time attendees at the national conference, Kathy and Cheri, brought back informative notes, ideas, and helpful hints. Ranked high with their enthusiasm in meeting and visiting with others, in similar situations, was their appreciation for the accessibility of the doctors at the conference.
