Amersham (100 Rte. 206 North, Peapack, NJ 07977; Tel: 908/901-8000) and Biotech (SE-751 84 Uppsala, Sweden; Tel: +46 (0) 18 612 00 00, Fax: 46 (0) 18 612 12 00) will spin off its "lab on a chip" CD microfabrication technology to a start-up to be called Gyros. Gyros, which will be financed by a consortium of six investors, will develop lab on a chip technology for medical, agricultural, environmental, and food science applications. Amersham Pharmacia Biotech will retain a 20% interest in the company.
