GE Medical Systems, Waukesha, Wis., received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to market a general purpose X-ray table that makes images without film. The digital X-ray system enables physicians to review patient images within seconds of the exam using a high-resolution monitor instead of waiting for film to be developed.

The general radiography system, called Revolution Tx/i, is the fourth filmless X-ray system from GE Medical. GE's initial filmless system has imaged more than 5,000 patients.
