Improvements abound as manufacturers make fishfinders easier to use.
Fishfinder manufacturers continue improving their products with new screen technology, faster microprocessors and additional functions to fulfill boaters' information needs in one unit.
Recent conversations with some of the main players in the fishfinder industry reveal most are working on similar developments.
One area of improvement is liquid crystal display (LCD) screen resolution to provide increased visibility in all ranges of natural light and to extend a screen's optimum operating temperature range.
Another is including fishfinding features within multifunction units, such as plotters and global positioning systems (GPS). This typically includes improvement in tracking and split-screen abilities to give boaters more information on a single screen.
