Oil and gas sectors benefit from automated systems

Wood Group Engineering is confident that oil industry players will be interested in a novel software package, which it believes will cut annual costs by more than GBP150,000. The company believes that the Maximo maintenance management system from PSDI can yield savings for both his own company and its clients.

WGE, formed by the amalgamation of four engineering companies, now employs 2,500 people with a turnover of GBP170 million, mainly in the North Sea energy sector.

The company is involved in the entire life of an offshore oil platform; handling operations, maintenance, modifications, construction, procurement and logistics.

WGE is working on 14 different sites offshore including BP, Shell Briticent, Talisman, Amoco, Texaco, Enterprise Oil. The Maximo system can interface with process control systems such as a …
