By 2001, the Academy Awards[R] will be returning home to downtown Hollywood. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is teaming with the San Diego-based developer Trizec Hahn Corporation to build a live broadcast theatre specifically to showcase the annual Oscar[R] presentations. The proposed site, on Hollywood Boulevard at Highland, is across the street from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the site of the first Academy Awards presentation in 1929. Groundbreaking is set for this summer, pending city approvals after an environmental impact report.
