The industry trend towards environmentally-friendly production, lower cost and improved pulp properties is continuing to gather strength at new and rebuilt pulp mills around the world. These mills are taking advantage of the latest technical advances to meet their commercial, production and environmental goals.

Advances in pulping technology are helping new mills in developing countries of the Asia-Pacific region and South America to make progress towards environmentally-friendly production. Mills in China and India are installing both wood and nonwood pulping technology, reflecting the shortage of wood fiber in these countries.

These trends were highlighted in a recent survey of pulping equipment suppliers conducted by Asia Pacific Papermaker. The survey was sent to major pulping equipment suppliers and requested details of their involvement in major pulp and paper projects around the world.
