Dornier Medical Systems Inc. has introduced a new, compact lithotripter that carries a price tag low enough to put the device into the hands of small group urology practices and hospitals as well. Kennesaw, Ga.-based Dornier, the lithotripsy market leader, says the new Compact S offers high performance and a diminutive size that gives providers the capability of moving the device easily from room to room. Providers can also mount the device in a step van, allowing it to be literally wheeled into an operating room suite, plugged into a common 220-volt wall socket, and put to work using existing clinical staff, then rolled out of the suite following completion of the procedure. …
